Indra Valley Basmathi 1121 Golden Pusa is a unique variety of basmathi rice that has captured the imagination of consumers.

Golden Pusa is processed in the traditional Indian way and goes through an aging process of about a year. After cooking, it elongates to almost twice the length of the original grain size and has a fluffy, light-feel that come with a natural aroma.

Golden Pusa basmathi retains the aromatic, soft and non-sticky, fluffy features that is inherent of basmathi. Grown at the foothills of the Himalayas in the Punjab, it benefits from the cool climate and fertile soil and clean, fresh waters of the mountain ranges. The combination of these factors accounts for its unique taste and texture.

Golden Pusa contains beneficial nutrients such as complex carbohydrates, protein, calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorous and various vitamins that our body needs.

Recipe

Nasi Tomato Indra Valley Classic Malay Tomato Rice

Pair with: ayam masak merah, lamb kurma
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Indra Valley basmathi rice (washed & soaked)
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • ½ onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, 1-inch ginger
  • 1 cinnamon, 2 cardamom, 2 cloves
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tomato – diced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt + pepper (to taste)

 

Method:

  • Sauté aromatics + spices.
  • Add tomato paste + diced tomato.
  • Pour broth + water.
  • Add rice & butter → transfer to rice cooker.
  • Cook and fluff.
